Shelf installation: wall type and load
Tell us the shelf dimensions, bracket or floating-shelf system and what you intend to store. A decorative shelf is different from storage for heavier items. The wall material, supporting locations and product instructions affect the fixing approach; the visible wall lining alone does not establish suitable support.
We assess your preferred shelf positions, wall condition and support, then explain suitable fixings and any additional work before installation. Our Cockburn case shows two shelves installed above a cabinet; we check each property's own wall and intended shelf load. Related: Cockburn shelf installation example
Mirror hanging and picture placement
For a mirror, share its dimensions, approximate weight if known and the supplied hanging system. A framed mirror, an unframed panel and a small picture may need different supports and handling. We check the condition of the item and agree the position before installation; a heavy mirror is not treated as an ordinary picture hook.
For several pictures, describe the intended grouping, spacing and relationship to nearby furniture. Discuss which marks or existing holes are to remain. Wall patching, paint touch-ups and removal of existing fittings need separate agreement if you want them included.
Wall Shelf Mounting: Shelves, Brackets & Fixings
You can ask us to assess a shelf, mirror, picture-hanging product or picture rail you already have. Keep the instructions and supplied hardware available. Share the model where possible, but leave further fixing purchases until the wall and product are checked. Supplied hardware may not suit every wall.
The quote identifies who supplies the item, compatible brackets or fixings, any extra support and the installation work. Product assembly can be a separate flat-pack assembly task. Replacement shelves or a custom storage design may require new cabinetry rather than a wall-fixing visit.
Hidden cables, pipes and electrical work
Tell us about known cables, pipes, switches or sockets near the intended fixing position. If the wall material or safe fixing location is uncertain, stop and arrange assessment before disturbance. Suspected asbestos-containing material must remain undisturbed until the appropriate assessment and work plan are confirmed.
Agree the layout and request a quote
Living-room shelves above furniture, a hallway mirror and a group of framed pictures each need clearance and placement decisions before drilling. Tell us the number of items, your preferred positions, access restrictions and your suburb. Photos and approximate measurements are optional; an on-site assessment establishes the proposed method and written quote.
For rentals or shared property, confirm permission for wall fixings with the authorised contact. Removal of existing fittings, making good holes, packaging removal and disposal are included only when agreed. Read how to describe the work clearly and qualified-work boundaries before planning related alterations.
