What we check on site

TV mounting and power connections

For a large TV on plasterboard or a rental apartment wall, provide the proposed position and bracket details if available. Permission and suitable backing are checked before installation. A new outlet behind the screen needs electrical assessment as well as bracket fitting.

Wall suitability for a television

Not every wall or fixing position is suitable for a television bracket. Screen weight, bracket leverage, wall construction and actual support are considered together. Unknown backing or concealed services must be resolved before selecting fixings.

A new power point is electrical work

Tell us if you need a power point behind the television. We assess and quote the electrical work separately, then coordinate outlet position, bracket fitting and finishing with you.

Mounting a bracket does not include changing a power point or fixed wiring. Any required electrical work is assessed and quoted separately, and is completed by Ellis's own appropriately licensed personnel. See our electrical service for that scope. Do not alter the electrical installation to prepare for a mounting visit.

Service scope and quote details

TV and bracket compatibility

Tell us the TV make and model, approximate screen size and whether you already have a bracket. The mounting pattern, television weight and bracket capacity need to suit one another. Fixed, tilting and moving brackets place different demands on the support and surrounding clearance.

Keep the TV instructions and mounting hardware available if you have them. We check that the bracket suits your TV and wall and identify any additional materials in the quote before fitting.

Supporting wall and viewing position

Plasterboard, masonry and other walls require different fixings and support checks. We assess the intended fixing points and accessible wall structure before confirming an installation method. If support or the wall condition is unsuitable, we explain the options before proceeding.

Discuss the screen height, seating position, glare, doors and furniture around the TV. Moving brackets need clearance through their range of motion. For rentals or strata properties, confirm permission for the proposed wall fixings and any alterations with the authorised contact.

Existing sockets, cables and electrical work

Agree the cable arrangement

Show us where the existing power point and signal connections are, and explain which devices will connect to the TV. We discuss accessible cable placement or a suitable surface cable-cover option. Concealed cable placement depends on the wall construction, access and the type of cable; it is not assumed to be included.

Licensed electrical work for fixed wiring

Installation checks and quotation

The TV and bracket, wall support, height, access and cable arrangement affect the quote. Tell us if an existing TV or bracket needs removal and whether wall repairs are required afterwards. Additional support, parts and electrical work need agreement before proceeding.

We check the mounted TV, bracket operation and the agreed cable arrangement at completion, and explain any remaining scope. Photos and measurements are optional; your suburb and a description of the intended setup are enough to start an enquiry and arrange an on-site assessment.

Shelves, mirrors and pictures have their own load and fixing needs. Include them as separate tasks with our small repair and wall-fixing service rather than assuming a TV bracket quote covers them.

TV wall mounting FAQs

Can you use my existing TV bracket?

We check whether the bracket suits the TV mounting pattern, weight, intended movement and supporting wall. Keep the product instructions and hardware available. Any extra materials or a different bracket are agreed before fitting.

Can you hide the TV cables inside the wall?

We assess the wall, access and cable type before confirming cable placement. Surface cable management may be an option. Concealed cable placement and any fixed electrical changes are separate scope items, not automatically included with bracket installation.

Do I need permission to mount a TV in a rental?

Confirm permission for the wall fixings and any alterations with the authorised property contact before booking. Tell us about building access restrictions and who can approve the work.

Can every wall support a mounted TV?

No. We check screen and bracket compatibility, wall construction, support and the proposed position. A plasterboard surface or a photo alone cannot establish support. Extra backing or a different position may need agreement.

Who adds a power point behind a wall-mounted TV?

Our appropriately licensed electrical personnel assess and carry out the agreed electrical scope. Any new or relocated power point needs separate assessment and quotation; bracket fitting does not include fixed wiring by default. We agree outlet position, access and making good with you before installation.
