How is shower resealing different from waterproofing?

Resealing renews visible surface joints; waterproofing addresses the membrane and junctions beneath or behind the finishes. New silicone cannot be assumed to fix membrane failure. An active leak needs diagnosis: plumbing faults and tile or grout repairs have different scopes.

What needs checking before waterproofing a bathroom or balcony?

The substrate, corners, penetrations, wastes and planned finishes all affect the membrane system. Drainage and relevant building requirements also need checking. The work must be completed by appropriately qualified people, with any required licensing confirmed for the scope.

Should visible leak damage be assessed before new tiles go down?
